LIPOMA
Once we find a lump or bump on our dogs we tend to think the worst. Lipoma’s
in your dogs, these tumors are very common in aged canines and are usually harmless.
They are benign fatty tumors. Some owners remove them for cosmetic reasons. If
the tumors compromise mobility then taking them out would be a good idea. These
fat filled lumps are just under your dog’s skin normally shaped oval or round.
If you touch them they are movable and soft.
Lipomas and other fatty tumors are the body’s way of ridding
itself of toxins and other unwanted material but, because the body is out of
balance, it can’t eliminate toxins through normal channels such as the kidneys,
liver or intestines. When the endocrine and immune systems are not functioning
at full capacity, the body does the next best thing and tries to encapsulate
any unwanted material and eliminate it through the largest excretory organ of
the body: the skin. Lipomas and other fatty tumors are like a lump of dirt that
you would sweep under the rug when you don’t know what else to do with it.
Makes sense, never really understood where Lipomas came from.
my dog prue a 7yr old healer has a swelling inside her left back hip,it is quite soft and does not seem to bother her at all, she is also scratching alot on her tummy, I have bathed her in an oatmeal shampoo for dogs, took her to our local Vet who gave me antibiotics and other pills but nothing has helped, they now want to charge me almost $7oo for tested which I do not have ( I live on an old age penson.
ReplyDeletedo you have any surgestions, one other thing the Vet did take a sample from the lump and said there was blood in it.and it is not getting any bigger, prue still eats well, wants to play,
