LIPOMAS

LIPOMA

Once we find a lump or bump on our dogs we tend to think the worst. Lipoma’s in your dogs, these tumors are very common in aged canines and are usually harmless. They are benign fatty tumors. Some owners remove them for cosmetic reasons. If the tumors compromise mobility then taking them out would be a good idea. These fat filled lumps are just under your dog’s skin normally shaped oval or round. If you touch them they are movable and soft.

Lipomas and other fatty tumors are the body’s way of ridding itself of toxins and other unwanted material but, because the body is out of balance, it can’t eliminate toxins through normal channels such as the kidneys, liver or intestines. When the endocrine and immune systems are not functioning at full capacity, the body does the next best thing and tries to encapsulate any unwanted material and eliminate it through the largest excretory organ of the body: the skin. Lipomas and other fatty tumors are like a lump of dirt that you would sweep under the rug when you don’t know what else to do with it.
Makes sense, never really understood where Lipomas came from.
